passions

                             Passions

This I and Lily are in Santa’s workshop. Our products are:Bath bombsLip And body Sugar scrubsOur ideas came from Pinterest and Mr Google himself. My idea of a bath bomb design was a sphere coloured red and white like a candy cane. But the bath bomb moulds needed to be delivered. Then we thought of rectangular bath bombs and it stuck.Lily’s idea of the sugar scrubs was coloured green and red and smelt like candy canes and we also thought of tying candy canes to the jars and that was final.

Book Week

                              Stu Duval

On Tuesday on the 7th of October Stu Duval set up a workshop in the hall at school.Stu Duval set up two workshops one on writing and one on cartoon drawing.I attended the writing and cartoon drawing. At the writing workshop, Stu Duval talked to us about ideas.
"Ideas are like sparrows, they are so common you don't see                                them until you open your eyes."
Stu also talked about character names, character are probably the hardest thing in writing ever for me.So Stu Duval told us to write the first thing at comes to your mind after I said something random. So of the creative names like flower Hanning or Serval purple.

In the cartoon drawing workshop, we drew ugly, evil scientists, cats, sharks, fat dinosaurs using numbers and letters. At the end of the drawing workshop, Stu Duval signed drawing or sketch books, but I got two signatures on my dinosaur drawing and my writing book.

Ice-Cream

                              Ice-cream

One choice, two irrestisble treats.Ice-cream so smooth and taste bud carving.Lollies come in extravaget flavours, colours and sizes. Icecream is essential to one's diet. Lollies are sugary and artifical and full of disgusting secret ingredients. We buy one each an ice cream and lollies.

Even though siblings stick to their choice, it always dosn't happen.

Hands reach out to claw the  precious treats from my clasp.Screaming enamel scraps my nerves.A plover screames over head.It hits. The battle is in full swing.Birds chant.Parents watch silently holding in the giggles.Hands hit again. In a matter of seconds the word turned up side down. The ice cream melted onto the abuent grass.Cries erupted from the heap on top of me.The fight was over.We both lost

camp

Camp!Horse riding rotation 1/11/17
Nervously standing on the vermilion mounting block, the dark chestnut gelding stood still waiting to bear the weight about to be plunged on his back. Everything was ant-sized, the sun made everything unbearable to touch.

The moment the lead rope sagged to the ground, Boston trotted off, oblivious the sharp tugs the rider gave him.Trotting off with no care in the world, he followed the scent of sweet hay all the way to the bucket. But somthing unexepted happened, Boston lunged forward to the bucket.Terrifed the great beast will would buck me off, I restrained him with a amighty tug and kick and we set off to the arena.

The arena is a huge building with rough bark littering the floor. bright blue barrels stood dutifully at each corner.Boston took each corner with delight and achievement.

Maori myth and legend

                       How Maui Slows The Sun😀😀

By, Lexi, Shantelle and Dareeya.

Over the last two weeks, my group were focusing on the myth: How Maui Slows The Sun.                                                     How Maui Slows Sun Video!

I hope you like the video!!!!!!!!

Script
Shantelle:When Maui was a little boy.

Lexi:Te Ra used to sprint across the blue sky so fast
that there was no time to do any work before dark.

Shantelle: One day,Maui’s mother, Taranga, asked him if he could slow the sun down and make days last longer.

Lexi: After thinking for weeks on end, Maui decided on a clever plan.

Shantelle: Maui set all the women in village to weave some long ropes of flax called harakeke.

Lexi: Next he and his brothers took the harakeke to the edge of the world, where Te-Ra went to sleep each night to  sleep.
Shantelle:Maui and his brothers used the harakeke to make a snare to trap Te-Ra.

Lexi: When Te-Ra leaped from his sleeping place and shone brightly,

Shantelle:But maui and his brothers were ready for him

Lexi: Maui shouted the signal and his brothers pulled hard and Te -Ra’s head got tangled in the ropes.

Shantelle: Te-Ra pleaded with mercy to Maui, but Maui took no notice of cries and whipped out his magic fishhook and hit Maui on the head.

Lexi:Te-ra screamed in pain as Maui hit him again and again mercilessly.

Shantelle: And when Maui stopped hitting Te-Ra, Maui told Te-Ra to travel more slowly across the sky so Maui and the villagers can finish their work before dark.

Lexi: Te-Ra seemed surprised to hear that he was traveling too fast, but still Te-Ra kept his side of the promise and Maui hit Te-Ra on the head again to keep his promise and Maui and his brothers let go of the harakeke.

Shantelle: Te-Ra slowly but surely he rose into the sky.Te-Ra has kept his promise by traveling slowly ever since, sharing his heat and light for many hours each day before he sinks down below the edge of the world to rest.

Lexi: So next time you're enjoying yourself in the sunshine, remember to thank Maui for making our days longer and warmer.

Haiku poems

Chickens  Flouncing in the sun, lounging on hay containing eggs, live life like a chicken.

NarwhalsFighting battles with the ice, polishing their horns with great gusto, diving deep into the ocean.
Diamonds  Digging in the cold mines, pickaxes clashing stone together finding the diamond, life is better with diamonds.
RedRed is dangerous, slaps on the face are very painful, red is blood from prey.ChocolateChocolate is delicious, chocolate is served hot or cold, Chocolate is the best!
Cherry blossomsWaiting for the blossoms, birds are still, up the magician's sleeve, sugar petals confetti my life.
PeoniesBudding in the morning, sleeping in the cold at night, peonies are really pretty!

Weekly Reflection with Mrs Florence 3.9

Calendar art! This week with Mrs Florence, we started calendar art.The artist we were looking into was, Wassily Kandinsky.Kandinsky invented the art called abstract art.Abstract art is art with shapes, lines and paint spatter on a canvas or piece of paper. Our theme for the abstract art is a budding tree. The background colours on my calendar art are the cold colour dye. After the dye has finished drying, I started drawing the tree that is blooming overnight. After drawing my final tree design, I start copying the tree design onto my final copy. When I finished copying my swirls onto my dyed paper, I started in my circles that are my flowers or buds. The flowers are made out of circles of vibrant colours.

Choices for Life Production, 2017

After the last performance, joy filled my stomach. The production was finished. Sadness piled on my happy and amusing moments in the production, as I take my costume off, this is the last time I will wear this costume the way it is with feathers tickling my nose and vibrant blues bouncing off the spotlight at night. But on the bright side, I don't have to enter a really stuffed bathroom with girls trying to take their costumes off. The heat in the bathroom... there is no room to put my costume, so girls trample my precious wings that looked amazing.

The Beach

                                                                      The Beach
Excited giggling, waves of laughter coming from the beach hut.Everyone was in a peaceful mode, no swearing, no fighting, just peaceful. But I thought to myself how long will this last? Maybe an hour or something, but anyway it was my first time out of the stuffy van with suitcases piled nearly on top of me and my dearest cousin Liza. With lots of suitcases, we came tumbling down headfirst into the silky sand. Shaking off the pearl white sand, embarrassed I walk off to the restroom and change into my waterproof lace bikini once I was finished we blundered out of the restroom.Gazing in awe and amazement at the undisturbed water, washed and glazed in the sunshine. It blew me away.

Enchanted by the pristine perfect fish. I noticed each that each fish that its own unique patterns like zebras in Africa.Cupping my hands into a bowl shape, I dip my hands into the cool, clear water. We tried and tried again to catch the fish but it didn't work. But in the end, we gave up and decided to bathe in the refreshing water , all the fish away

Science How to protect plants from bugs

                                                     The Science

Our question was…
What is the best remedy for protecting plants from slugs, snails etc
At the Hamilton Gardens, we learnt that there are good insects as well as bad.
Our remedies were: Saucer of milk next to the plant, crushed eggshells on the soil, ripped orange peels on the soil.
It showed that all the remedies worked equally the same, with zero slugs and snails etc.
the science behind the first remedy is that they are drawn to the milk because they’re curious, and then they drown in the milk.
The eggshells are so sharp that when snails walk over the eggshells they get cut and stabbed to death.
the science behind the last remedy is that the citric acid in the oranges burns the skin of the snail, slugs etc.
